Podcards

There are so many devices out there made by so many different brands that we obviously not not write a guide for them all! This page contains basic hints and procedures which can help you understand the ways in which Podcards can be used.

Podcards

To test how Podcards will look on your device, please visit one of the subjects you are interested in and click an example. An actual size Podcard will load into a popup window. Right click on the image, choose “Save Picture As” and choose a location on your hard drive to save the image. Once you have downloaded the Podcard to your hard drive, you can then transfer it to your device for viewing. We make no guarantee that Podcards will work on your specific device, so please test an example Podcard before you buy.

Podcards

Each Podcard is 320 pixels wide by 240 pixels high. Even if your device does not have a screen this size, you still may be able to load Podcards and use your navigation keys to scroll around the card.

Extracting Files

1.

Make a new folder on your computer in a place that’s easy to remember.

i.e. “C:\PODCARDS”

2.

Use the web site to find the subjects and units you learn at school and download the zip files associated with them. Make sure you save the zip files to the folder you created in step 1.

3.

Unzip/Extract the zip file to a folder of the same name. You can do this two ways:

A) For example, you might download Chemistry Unit 3. Make a new folder inside “C:\PODCARDS” called “CHEMU3”. So you will now have “C”\PODCARDS\CHEMU3\”

Extract the files from the zip to “CHEMU3P1”

B) This can also be done automatically if WinZip is installed on the computer. Right click on the zip file, choose “WinZip” and then ”extract to folder”. WinZip will automatically extract the files to a folder with the same name as the zip file.

Uploading

1.

Check the manual for your phone, iPod or media player to make sure it supports the JPG image format

2.

Plug in your iPod , phone or media player into the computer.

3.

Start up the software you use to load music/images/video on to your device.

4.

Load the images onto the device in the appropriate manner according to the manual. This will usually be done the same way as you might for a photo slideshow or gallery. If possible, make sure the podcards are uploaded into folders according to their subject and unit number or in the same structure as on your hard drive. This will make it easier for you to find the podcards you need, when you need them.
